Project "The Soft Touch"
"The Soft Touch" project was created to raise funds for hygiene and body care products for children with rare diseases, so that they feel a little more comfortable and warmer in this world
Touch is one of the simplest ways of learning about the surrounding world. Touch can be different: warm, cold, silky or prickly, loud or quiet, black and white or colored. Most children can see it, hear it and feel it... and love it.
Children with orphan diseases can see and hear only a small part of the world around them. That is why it is so important that they can FEEL it, that it seems comfortable, warm and so soft... welcoming.
As of June 2024, there are more than 110 children from different parts of Lviv region, as well as IDPs (10 internally displaced persons) on the register of the Mobile Hospice for Children. All children were diagnosed with serious incurable diseases (rare, genetic, degenerative, CNS diseases, oncological, etc.).
In order for children to live at home and not be in a hospital 24/7, it takes a lot of money to ensure that parents have everything they need for care, treatment and specialized nutrition.
A team consisting of doctors, nurses, psychologists makes regular trips (4 times a month to each ward) to the place of residence of patients for medical examination, performing the necessary manipulations, psychologist consultations, and mobile hospice workers bring supplies.
Hygiene is the key to a comfortable life for orphaned children. Children with disabilities constantly need diapers and disposable diapers, wet wipes to maintain comfortable feelings at all times.
Hygiene products also prevent inflammatory skin diseases, including bedsores.
The room in which such a child lives resembles a hospital ward in which there is a ventilator, a patient monitor, a suction device, a respiratory concentrator, an inhaler, etc.
Implementation of the "Soft touch" project gives parents confidence in the future and the fact that they are not alone with their troubles, and children a sense of comfort and trust in the world.
Since the life expectancy of our wards is uncertain, the duration of this project also depends on the state of health of these children.
The monthly need of "Mobile Hospice for Children" wards in hygiene products is:
- 146 packs of diapers;
- 218 packs of wet wipes;
- 100 packs of disposable diapers
